Nomination Period Opens in December for the Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery
The
nomination period for the Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery will
open Dec. 15, 2014. The Badge of Bravery honors federal, state, local and
tribal law enforcement officers for exceptional acts of bravery performed in
the line of duty. In order to receive a nomination, officers must be either a
federal, state, local or tribal law enforcement officer(s) nominated by his or
her agency head who:
- Sustained a physical injury while
engaged in lawful duties and performing an act characterized as bravery by
the agency head making the nomination.
- Put himself/herself at personal risk
when an injury occurred.
- Or, although not injured, performed
an act characterized as bravery by the agency head making the nomination
that placed the individual at risk of serious physical injury or death.
Acts
must have taken place between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2014. Online nominations may
be made at www.bja.gov/CBOB through Feb.
