CBP U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter, Blaine Sector Jan. 2 – Jan. 8

Blaine, Wash. – The information listed below is from arrests and seizures related to U.S. Border Patrol in the Blaine Sector area of operations. For security reasons, this may not be a complete list of enforcement actions.

01/02/2012- U.S. Border Patrol agents responded to a request for assistance from a Whatcom County Sheriff’s Deputy who was on a traffic stop near Bellingham, WA. The responding agents encountered two Mexican citizens illegally present in the United States. The subjects were placed under arrest and processed for removal.

01/03/2012 – Agents arrested a citizen of Costa Rica after a vehicle stop north of Lynden, WA. The driver of the vehicle admitted to being illegally present in the United States and was processed for removal. This individual had a prior criminal conviction for DUI.

01/04/2012 – Agents encountered a subject of India in close proximity to the United States – Canada border near Blaine, WA. The subject readily admitted to recently crossing illegally into the United States from Canada. The subject was placed under arrest and processed for removal.

01/07/2012 - Agents performed a vehicle stop north of Lynden, WA. and encountered a Mexican citizen who admitted to being illegally present in the United States. The subject was arrested and processed for removal.

01/08/2012 - Remote video surveillance system operators alerted agents that they had observed five subjects cross illegally into the United States from Canada north of Lynden, WA. The responding agents encountered the subjects attempting to flee the area on foot. The subjects, all citizens of India illegally present in the United States, were placed under arrest and processed for removal.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
