Nomination Period for Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery Opens

The Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery Act, introduced in 2008, honors federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement officers for exceptional acts of bravery in the line of duty. The nomination period for the 2013 awards runs from Dec. 14, 2012, through Feb. 15, 2013; potential recipients must have performed an exceptional act of bravery between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012. Agency heads may nominate officers who sustained a physical injury during implementation of duties, or performed an act characterized as bravery that put the individual at personal risk of injury or death.
