Medal of Valor Nomination Period Closes July 31
There are just two weeks left to nominate a
public safety officer for the 2012-2013
Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor, the highest national award for valor
by a public safety officer. The medal is awarded annually by the president or
vice president of the United States to public safety officers who have
exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in the attempt to
save or protect human life. To be considered, an officer must be nominated for
actions that occurred between June 1, 2012 and May 31, 2013. Nominations must
be submitted through the online Medal
of Valor application system by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on July 31, 2013. To
