SACRAMENTO, Calif. — George Hristovski, 59, of Elverta, was
sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Garland E. Burrell Jr. to 10 years in
prison for attempted enticement of a minor, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott
announced.
According to court documents, Hristovski posted an online
advertisement seeking a mother who was willing to allow him to have sex with
her daughter. An undercover agent with
the Placer County Sheriff’s Department responded to the advertisement and began
to correspond with Hristovski, posing as a mother and eventually her
13-year-old daughter. Hristovski was
arrested on August 4, 2014, after making explicit demands for pornographic images
of the 13-year-old girl that he believed he was communicating with, and for
attempting to arrange a meeting with the girl for the purpose of having sex
with her.
This case was the product of an investigation by the Federal
Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the Placer County Sheriff’s
Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a
nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to
combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the
United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation
and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and
local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit
children, and to identify and rescue victims. For more information about
