Federal Arrest for a New Mexico Man for Enticing a Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity

On May 22, 2019, the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a federal arrest warrant for a New Mexico man that allegedly enticed a minor online for sexual acts and sexually graphic digital images.

In Santa Teresa, New Mexico, 26-year old Antonio Arroyo, Jr. was arrested for allegedly traveling to meet with a minor to engage in sexual activity.

Arroyo has been charged with one count of 18 U.S.C. 2423(b) Travel with Intent to Engage in Illicit Sexual Conduct and one count of 18 U.S.C. 2422(b) Coercion or Enticement of a Minor.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation El Paso Division and El Paso Police Department investigated this case based on a tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cyber tip line. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Mangels is prosecuting the case on behalf of the Government.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
