Memoir and Creative Nonfiction Based In Law Enforcement Experience In An Urban Setting


2019 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:  LEO, Flash Memoir or CNF (Up to 1000 words)

Open: Journal of Arts & Letters (O:JA&L) will consider fee-free submissions of memoir and creative nonfiction based in law enforcement experience in an urban setting. Submissions are open to both active duty and retired law enforcement personnel in any jurisdiction in the world and to military police and bail bondsmen. Submissions may be in English or Russian. Submissions may contain up to three pieces, no piece to contain more than 1,000 words, counting title, byline and any epigraph. Each title should begin a new page. All titles in a submission should be contained in a single file. Submissions in this category must be in the .docx file format. When possible, each piece should state as a subtitle the time, date, and jurisdiction of the described action. 

To ensure processing by the correct editors, the subject line or cover letter should include the words “LEO: Experience in an urban setting.” 

A cover letter should include a brief professional biography in third person of up to 75 words.
Open: Journal of Arts & Letters (O:JA&L) will consider performance art in this category. Submissions as audio or video must include only a single title and be approximately 5 minutes in length. Submissions should be made in one of the following formats: .mp3, .mp4, mp4a.
This call opens August 1, 2019 and closes November 30, 2019. 

This call is limited to the first 25 submissions, after which limit is reached, submissions will close.
