Murder Suspect Arrested by U.S. Marshals in Durham, North Carolina



Durham, NC – On January 20, 2015, Officers were dispatched to a call in reference to a man lying in the street at the intersection of Rosewood Street and Dayton Street. Officers found a male, later identified as Lensy Gill III, who appeared to have been shot in the head. Gill was pronounced dead at the scene. On June 29, 2015, a warrant was issued by the Durham Police Department for Shaheem Tyron Williams charging Williams with murder. Williams is a validated gang member of the “CRIPS”.

On July 2, 2015, at 10:43 AM, Williams was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Durham Police Department. The JFTF and Investigators with the Durham Police Department developed information regarding the possible whereabouts of Williams. Investigative efforts led the JFTF and the Durham Police Department to the vicinity of 1516 Savannah Place where Williams was arrested without incident. Williams was transported to the Durham County Jail where he is currently being held with no bond for the alleged murder.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole
