York, PA - Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced that
the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force arrested Shazmir
Martino – a 20-year old man.
On February 22, 2017 the Pennsylvania State Police obtained
an arrest warrant for Martino charging him with two counts of murder of the
third degree, aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle, two counts of
homicide by vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude officer and accident
involving death/injury not properly licensed. Allegedly, on November 8, 2015,
Martino, and three other men, fled the scene of an assault that left the victim
unconscious. The responding officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the
suspect’s vehicle. The suspect failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. A short time
later, the suspect’s vehicle crashed leaving all four occupants badly injured.
Two of the four occupants later died from injuries sustained during the crash.
U.S. Marshals and its task force partners, located and
arrested Martino today in the 800 block of Bonneview Road in York without
incident. Martino was turned over to local authorities pending judicial
proceedings.
United States Marshal Pane stated, “Along with our law
enforcement partners it’s the Marshals Services duty to ensure those charged
with serious crimes have their day in court. It is my sincere hope that the
victims families will find some measure of comfort knowing the suspect in this
case will face justice.”
The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with officers
from the Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole,
York City Police Department and the York County Sheriff’s Office.
