Using feedback from stakeholders across the nation, the National Institute of
Justice and the University of North Texas Health Science Center have provided
several major updates to NamUs, the national information clearinghouse and
resource center for missing, unidentified and unclaimed person cases in the
United States. Updates include streamlined user registration, enhanced case
search and matching, improved access to cases and tools from one central
dashboard, and increased security. In addition to the search database
application, the suite of no-cost NamUs resources includes technology, forensic
and analytical services, investigative support, and local, regional and online
training programs. Law enforcement, medical examiners, coroners, investigators,
forensic professionals, tribal governments, non-profit and public-sector
organizations, and members of the general public can use the system to connect
the dots on missing and unidentified people.
