Ocotillo, Calif. – On June 7, Border
Patrol agents from the El Centro Station coordinated the rescue of a woman, 38,
in distress after an illegal alien from Mexico flagged agents down along
Highway 98 and provided her location. The man informed agents that a woman he
was traveling with fell behind and could not continue.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., Border
Patrol agents located the woman in the open desert southeast of Ocotillo,
approximately two miles north of the international border. The woman was found
semi-conscious and unresponsive due to prolonged heat exposure. Agents quickly
activated Emergency Medical Services and provided life-saving assistance until
help arrived.
The Imperial County Gold Cross ambulance
responded to the location and transported the woman to a local area hospital
where she was treated for dehydration. According to hospital personnel, the woman
appears to be in stable condition.
