Fresno,
CA – U.S. Marshal Albert Najera, of the Eastern District of California,
announced today that the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task
Force (PSWRFTF) - Fresno Division with assistance from the Southern Ohio
Fugitive Apprehension Team (SOFAST) - Cincinnati, arrested Domingo Antonio Cruz
and Fausto Ramirez Martinez of Selma, California for Murder and Accessory to
Murder late Friday night in Cincinnati Ohio.
On
December 23, 2012, the Selma Police Department was dispatched to the 2200 block
of Knowles Ave., to investigate a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found two
males that appeared to be in a traffic accident, however had injuries
consistent with a stabbing. Both males were transported to the hospital, where
one of the victims died from his injuries.
Witnesses
at the scene observed a verbal altercation, which turned physical between the
victims’ and two Hispanic males, later identified as Cruz and Martinez.
According to witness observations, Cruz and Martinez had been inside a black
SUV which they rammed into the victims’ car several times before physically
assaulting the victims. During the assault the victims were stabbed. Cruz and
Martinez fled the scene in the SUV.
The
Selma Police Department, a member of the PSWRFTF, contacted Task Force Officers
for assistance in locating and arresting Cruz and Martinez. Task Force Officers
discovered that the suspects fled the State and were possibly hiding out at an
apartment complex in Cincinnati. The SOFAST team was contacted and began
surveillance of the complex. Several hours into the surveillance, Cruz and
Martinez were taken into custody.
The
Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force is a U.S. Marshals-sponsored
partnership comprised of investigators from federal, state, and local agencies.
The main objective of the task force is to seek out and arrest fugitives
charged with violent crimes, drug crimes, sex offenders, and other felonies.
More fugitives are arrested annually by the U.S. Marshals Service than all other
federal agencies combine
