High Point, NC – Today, June 6, 2014 at 1:45 PM, Rashawn
Jeffery Williams, a 32 year old, Black Male was arrested by the U.S. Marshals
Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) with the assistance of the High Point Police
Department (HPPD). Williams was wanted by the Williamsport Police Department in
Williamsport, Pennsylvania for Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Unlawfully
Possessing a Firearm, and Terroristic Threats. All charges stem from an
incident that occurred on June 1, 2014 where Williams is suspected to have shot
and killed Aaron Coty Lowry during an argument.
The JFTF conducted surveillance in the area of 2370
Bellemeade Drive in High Point. While members of the JFTF surrounded the
apartment building, Williams exited out a back window of a separate apartment
and ran into a wooded area. A High Point Police Officer K-9 Unit responded and
a perimeter was established. The (HPPD) Canine Officer tracked Williams into
the woods where Williams was subsequently subdued. Williams sustained a minor
injury and is currently being treated at the High Point Regional Hospital.
Williams is being held on these charges and is pending extradition back to
Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle
District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals
Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro
Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police
Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway
Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of
Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
