Suspect Wanted for Assaulting a Government Official Arrested by U.S. Marshals



Winston-Salem, NC – On June 3, 2014 at 8:00 PM, Eric Wayne Wright Jr., a 24 year old, Black Male, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) with the assistance of the Winston-Salem Police Department. Wright was wanted by the Winston-Salem Police Department for Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official. On May 8, 2014, it is alleged that Wright assaulted a Winston-Salem Police Officer by striking him with a vehicle.

Information was developed that Wright was staying in the area of Cash Drive. The JFTF conducted surveillance and observed a subject matching Wright’s description, in front of 3615 Cash Drive. After a 15 minute standoff, entry was made into the apartment and Wright was ordered out and arrested without incident.

Wright was transported to the Forsyth County Detention Center and served with the outstanding warrant. Detectives also charged Wright with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver, Trafficking Cocaine (2 counts), Maintaining a Vehicle for the Sale and Delivery of Narcotics (2 counts), Manufacture Schedule 1 Narcotics, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Wright was given a $325,000 bond by the Forsyth County Magistrate.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
