Fugitive Facing 1st Degree Murder, Parole Violation, and
Drug Possession Charges
San Antonio, TX – Alexander Ivan Martin, 23, was arrested
today by members of the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task
Force (LSFTF) in San Antonio, TX. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an
investigation by the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) Homicide Unit, where
it is alleged that Martin committed 1st degree murder and a violation of
parole.
On October 21, 2014, LSFTF officers initiated an
investigation in locating and apprehending Martin. Subsequent to the
investigation, task force officers along with assistance from officers assigned
to the SAPD Repeat Offender Program (ROP) worked side by side in the search for
Martin. After several hours of surveillance, Martin was observed sitting in a
vehicle near a movie theatre located off Northwest Loop 410 and Evers Road, on
the northwest side of San Antonio. LSFTF and ROP officers approached the
vehicle, identified themselves, ordered Martin out of the vehicle, and took him
into custody without incident. Martin was also found to be in possession of
methamphetamine and will face additional charges.
On October 11, 2014, Martin allegedly shot a man in the
chest with a shotgun. Witnesses stated that police were contacted, but Martin
fled the scene before police officers arrived. The victim in the shooting had
succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. On October 18,
2014, after an extensive investigation conducted by the SAPD Homicide Unit, a
warrant was issued for Martin’s arrest.
Martin is currently being held in custody at the Bexar
County Sheriff’s Office.
Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western
District of Texas, stated, “When law enforcement officers work together to
solve a case, positive results happen. The collaborative efforts by the Lone
Star Fugitive Task Force and SAPD’s Repeat Offender Program showed proof of
that today.”
