Suspect Arrested on Capital Murder Charge
Universal City, TX - Mark Zendejas, 17, was arrested today
by members of the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force
(LSFTF) in Universal City, TX. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an
investigation by the San Antonio Police Department Homicide Unit (SAPD), where
it is alleged that Zendejas committed capital murder.
On April 13, 2016, members of the LSFTF initiated an
investigation in locating and apprehending Zendejas. Through investigative
efforts and extensive surveillance, task force officers observed Zendejas exit
a house in the 400 block of East Lindbergh Boulevard, in Universal City, TX.
After a short foot pursuit, task force officers identified themselves,
apprehended Zendejas, and took him into custody. Zendejas was also found in
possession of a 9 millimeter handgun.
On January 26, 2016, Zendejas and 3 other suspects were
allegedly involved in the robbery and shooting death of a victim at an
apartment complex located in the 8600 block of Fairhaven, on the northwest side
of San Antonio. Reports stated that a group of men were standing in the parking
lot and a verbal altercation erupted. Gunshots soon followed and the victim was
later found dead at the scene from receiving multiple gunshot wounds. After a
thorough investigation by SAPD Homicide detectives, a warrant was issued for
Zendejas’ arrest. The 3 other suspects had been previously arrested, but
Zendejas remained a fugitive on the run until his arrest today.
Zendejas is currently being held in custody at the Bexar
