Draft Update to NIJ Ballistic-Resistant Body Armor Standard Released for Public Comment



The draft of the latest update to the National Institute of Justice ballistic-resistant body armor standard has been released for public comment. The draft of NIJ Standard 0101.07, Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor was developed through an NIJ Special Technical Committee comprising criminal justice professionals and testing experts.
Also open for comment is a proposed specification of the threat levels and associated ammunition intended for use with voluntary NIJ standards that specify a minimum performance requirement for U.S. law enforcement equipment intended to protect against handgun and rifle ammunition.

The 90-day comment period for both the draft standard and the threat level document is now open and runs until May 23, 2018.
