Warroad, Minn. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Warroad, Minn. port of entry seized one pound of marijuana on July 25.
The seizure occurred when a CBP officer referred a 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander being driven by a 33-year-old Canadian citizen from Alberta, Canada. Officers conducted an intensive vehicle inspection that resulted in the discovery of two half-pound Ziploc bags and additional smaller baggies of marijuana.
The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and turned over to the Roseau County Sheriffs Office for prosecution. Independent research groups estimate one pound of marijuana as having a street value of approximately $6,000.
“Our officers are committed to the CBP mission of securing the nation’s borders,” said Mary Delaquis, Pembina area port director. “The hard work and dedication of the officers at Warroad resulted in the seizure of this marijuana.”
