INDIANAPOLIS - A local man accused of transporting and possessing child pornography was charged in federal court on Monday. The charges resulted from an investigation conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Christopher Anderson, 36, of Evansville, Ind., was charged Aug. 9 in the Southern District of Indiana with transporting and possessing child pornography. The indictment alleges that on April 26 Anderson transported a number of images of child pornography. The indictment also alleges that on June 14 - the date of his original arrest - Anderson possessed additional child pornography videos at his residence.
If convicted, Anderson faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney A. Brant Cook, Southern District of Indiana, is prosecuting the case.
This investigation was part of Operation Predator, a nationwide ICE initiative to protect children from sexual predators, including those who travel overseas for sex with minors, Internet child pornographers, criminal alien sex offenders, and child sex traffickers. Since Operation Predator was launched in July 2003, ICE agents have arrested more than 12,800 individuals.
