U.S. Marshals Seek Public's Help to Locate Wanted Fugitive




The United States Marshals Service is asking for your assistance in locating Rufus Phelps, a wanted fugitive who is considered armed and dangerous.

Rufus Phelps currently has a Bench Warrant issued for his arrest for Failure to Comply with Conditions of Pre-Trial, Court case D-202-CR-201304343, in Bernalillo County District Court. A grand jury indicted Phelps on September 12, 2013 on the following charges related to this case: Aggravated Assault Against a Household Member (Deadly Weapon), Aggravated Assault (Deadly Weapon), Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Device by a Felon, Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony-Narcotic Drug), Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon (Discharge).

A warrant in United States District Court is forthcoming related to the Assault on a Federal Officer.

Phelps has an extensive criminal history which includes the following charges associated with these arrests: Robbery, Unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, Receiving/transferring a stolen vehicle (2008), Aggravated Assault (Deadly Weapon), Tampering with evidence (2009), Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle, Receiving/transferring a stolen vehicle, Aggravated Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer (2010), Harassment (2010), Battery, Assault (attempted battery), Criminal Damage to Property (2011), Probation Violations related to 2009 case (2013), and Resisting, Evading or Obstructing an officer (2013).

Phelps is a self-admitted Gangster Disciple gang member. Phelps's vehicle was located earlier this morning in the area of Atrisco and Central.
