Colorado Man Arrested in Burlington, North Carolina by U.S. Marshals



Greensboro, NC – Today, at approximately 5:15 AM, Justin Vann Fightmaster, a 38 year old, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF). Fightmaster was wanted by the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office out Colorado for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. The alleged charge stems from an incident that occurred on July 11, 2014, where Fightmaster stabbed a victim twice in the chest and once in the neck with a knife. The altercation occurred when the victim attempted to stop Fightmaster from driving a vehicle while intoxicated.

Investigative efforts led the JFTF to the 1000 block of Elwood Street in Burlington. Their efforts paid off when members of the JFTF positively identified Fightmaster entering a vehicle. The JFTF surrounded and converged on the vehicle taking Fightmaster into custody without incident. Fightmaster was transported to the Alamance County Jail where he is currently being held awaiting extraction back to Colorado.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Immigration Customs and Enforcement, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
