Scranton, PA - United States Marshal Martin Pane announced
today that the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force arrested
Anthony Burgos, 27, in Minersville, PA.
On June 17, 2016, the New Jersey Monmouth County Sheriff’s
Office obtained an arrest warrant charging Burgos with Robbery. It is alleged
that Burgos broke in to a home, assaulted and then robbed the victim. The case
was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive
Task Force. Information was developed that Burgos may be in the Minersville,
Pennsylvania area and a request for assistance was made to the Marshals Service
Fugitive Task Force in Scranton. Today, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task
Force and other law enforcement agencies arrested Burgos at a residence in the
300 block of Westwood Street, Minersville. Burgos was arrested without incident
after he was found hiding in the residence and turned over to local authorities
pending extradition to New Jersey.
United States Marshal Martin Pane stated, “The U.S. Marshals
Service Fugitive Task Force will continue to work with our law enforcement
partners to locate and apprehend those who are wanted for serious crimes. Our
communities will not be a safe haven.”
The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with personnel
from the Pennsylvania State Police, Scranton Police Department, Minersville
Police Department and personnel from the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive
Task Force.
