Tampa, FL - On September 9, 2016, at the Tampa Bay Area
Chiefs of Police Foundation Gala, Deputy United States Marshal Roger Devall was
awarded as Federal Agent of the Year. Deputy Devall has been employed with the
United States Marshals Service for 19 years. A year ago Deputy Devall was
assigned to investigate unregistered sex offenders as part of the Middle
District of Florida’s Sex Offender Initiative.
During the past year Deputy Devall joined the Tampa Bay Area
Sex Offender Task Force which is a multi-jurisdictional group encompassing the
United States Attorney’s Office, State Attorney’s Office, Florida Department of
Law Enforcement, Tampa Police Department, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office,
Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Hernando
County Sheriff’s Office, and Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. As part of his
investigative assignment, Deputy Devall investigated 81 unregistered sex
offender cases, referred several for state prosecution, and initiated 21
Federal investigations. Devall has also directed several Sex Offender
Operations targeting non-compliant sex offenders with the Tampa Police
Department, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and Pasco County Sheriff’s
Office.

continued efforts to prosecute unregistered sex offenders, Devall was the
perfect candidate to receive the Tampa Bay Area Chiefs of Police – Agent of the
Year.
