Former Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Convicted of Making False Statements to Law Enforcement Officials

Former Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Bridget M. McCafferty was convicted of 10 counts of making false statements to law enforcement officials following a weeklong trial before U.S. District Judge Sara Lioi.

McCafferty, 45, of Westlake, is scheduled to be sentenced on June 2.

McCafferty made 10 false statements Federal Bureau of Investigation special agents on September 23, 2008 when they questioned her about her role in the ongoing Cuyahoga County corruption investigation, according to court documents.

McCafferty denied that then-Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora and then-Auditor Frank Russo attempted to intervene in cases before her, when, in fact, they had, according to court documents.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Antoinette Thomas Bacon and Nancy L. Kelley following an investigation by the FBI and Internal Revenue Service.
