USMS Seeking Public's Help in Locating International Con Man



Albuquerque, NM - The United States Marshal Service in New Mexico is asking for the public’s help in locating an international con-man named John Vafiades. Vafiades is a fugitive wanted by the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service for passport fraud and is wanted for crimes in Colorado and New Mexico ranging from fraud, and traffic offenses to possession of dangerous drugs. Vafiades is one of the U.S. State Department’s top 10 fugitives.

Vafiades is believed to be hiding in the Albuquerque Metro area or Farmington, New Mexico. Investigators believe Vafiades has traveled between the United States and Mexico in his attempt to avoid apprehension. Vafiades is believed to have been involved in several realty related schemes to laundry and cheat money from lenders. Vafiades frequently uses numerous names and identities. He is believed to be a very savvy business man and has mostly likely assumed a new identity. Anyone recognizing his photo is asked to contact the United States Marshals Service in New Mexico.
