Las Cruces, NM - On December 8, 2014, the United States
Marshals Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team task force in Las Cruces,
NM, arrested murder suspect Mario Soto at the Point of Entry at Paseo Del Norte
in El Paso, TX. Soto agreed to surrender to U.S. Marshals on First Degree
Murder charges that were filed on April 29, 2014. Soto was taken into custody
without incident and booked into the El Paso County Jail.
On December 4, 2014, United States Marshals in San
Bernardino, CA, arrested Danny Hwang on a state of New Mexico warrant charging
Hwang with Promoting Prostitution and Commercial Sex Offenses. Deputy Marshals
in Las Cruces, NM, developed information that Hwang fled to California to avoid
arrest. Hwang was taken into custody without incident and is awaiting
extradition back to NM.
On November 24, 2014, United States Marshals in Organ, NM,
arrested Frank Fenn on Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Fenn was wanted
out of the state of Maryland on a warrant filed on August 5, 2014. Fenn was
taken into custody and is awaiting extradition back to Maryland.
When speaking of the 3 arrests orchestrated by the Marshals
Service in Las Cruces, District of New Mexico, United States Marshal Conrad
Candelaria said “regardless of jurisdiction: state, national or international,
Deputy U.S. Marshals will direct efforts with the law enforcement community to
investigate, pursue and apprehend dangerous criminals. These arrests once again
reveal the commitment of the Marshals Service to pursue all legal means so that
those involved in violent criminal offenses are held accountable, because every
New Mexican deserves to live in a community that is safe”.
