Harrisburg, PA – Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane
announced the arrests of Gregory Lownes – a 26-year old man – and Stefanie Kabonic
– a 24-year old woman; both of Lower Paxton Township.
On February 1, 2016, the Lower Paxton Township Police
Department (LPTPD) responded to a report of gunshots fired at a home in the
1000 block of Acri Road. Officers discovered that a man suffered a gunshot
wound but refused to cooperate with the investigation. Despite this, detectives
learned that Lownes and Kabonic allegedly lured the man to their home with the
intent of robbing the man. As a result, (LPTPD) obtained arrest warrants
charging Lownes with Criminal Attempt – Homicide and Robbery, and, Kabonic with
Robbery. Attempts to locate the two at their home were unsuccessful and the
LPTPD requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task
Force.
This morning at approximately 11 a.m., members of the USMS
Fugitive Task Force arrested both Lownes and Kabonic at the Motel 6 on Arsenal
Boulevard in York, PA. Kabonic was arrested without incident. Lownes attempted
to hide under a bed. Both were transported to Dauphin County.
United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “The U.S.
Marshals Service and our task force partners recognize the importance of
cooperation between federal, state and local police agencies – especially when
searching for fugitives wanted for using firearms to commit violent crimes. It
is my sincere hope that the arrest of this violent fugitive brings some sense
of relief to the community.”
The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with personnel
from the Lower Paxton Township Police Department, the Northern York County
Regional Police Department, the York City Police Department, the Pennsylvania
State Police, the York County Sheriff’s Office, the Harrisburg Bureau of
