U.S. Marshals Canada Investigative Liaison Program Facilitates Deportation of 2008 Fugitive

Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service, Canada Investigative Liaison Program (CIL) facilitated the deportation and arrest of a United States fugitive, wanted since 2008.

Aidan Volker, 27, formally of Chillicothe, Missouri was arrested on December 5, 2016 at Logan International Airport, in Boston, Massachusetts when confronted by Deputy U.S. Marshals.

Volker was wanted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department (Missouri) for 2 counts of Burglary, both Class C Felonies. The warrant for Volker’s arrest was issued on November 14, 2008. Volker’s whereabouts were largely unknown until it came to light that Volker was evading authorities by living in Canada with relatives.

In September 2016, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department turned Volker’s arrest warrant over to the U. S. Marshals, seeking assistance in locating and arresting Volker. Volker’s case was handled by the U.S. Marshals Canada Investigative Liaison (CIL) Program, and coordinated by a CIL member in the District of Vermont.

The CIL program is designed to address transnational fugitive matters along the U.S. and Canada border to include international investigations, foreign fugitive investigations and the facilitation of fugitive removals by extradition or deportation. CIL’s establish, cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with Canadian Law Enforcement in the border regions for their area of responsibility.

As a result of the partnership the CIL Program has with Canada, over the course of almost 4 months, the U.S. Marshals worked closely with the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S. State Department to assist in facilitating Volker’s deportation to the United States and subsequent arrest upon entry to the United States.

In preparation of Volker’s return to the United States, U.S. Marshals coordinated efforts between the District of Vermont, the District of Massachusetts and Western District of Missouri.

On December 5, 2016 Volker was arrested by Deputy United States Marshals for the District of Massachusetts. Volker was turned over to the Boston, Massachusetts Police Department, where he was charged as a fugitive from justice. Volker will be seen before a state judge in Massachusetts prior to being extradited back to the State of Missouri to face his 2008 outstanding charges.

The outcome of Volker’s state court hearing in Boston, Massachusetts was not available at the time of this release.
