ALBUQUERQUE – Agoyo Vigil, 42, an enrolled member and
resident of Tesuque Pueblo, N.M., was sentenced today in federal court in
Albuquerque, N.M., to two years of probation for his conviction on a felony
child abuse charge.
On Aug. 31, 2018, Vigil pled guilty to an information
charging him with child abuse. In
entering the guilty plea, Vigil admitted that on Dec. 31, 2015, on the San
Ildefonso Pueblo, in Santa Fe County, N.M., he became involved in a family
argument after consuming beer. During
this argument, Vigil grabbed and pushed the 13-year-old victim up against a
wall with his hand on the victim’s throat.
This case was investigated by the Albuquerque office of the
FBI, BIA’s Office of Justice Services and the Tesuque Pueblo Tribal Police
Department and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Marshall.
