United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced that a Dupree,
South Dakota, woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assault with
a Dangerous Weapon and Child Abuse.
Cache Hebb, age 23, was indicted on December 10, 2019. She appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge
Mark A. Moreno on December 16, 2019, and pled not guilty to the Indictment.
The maximum penalty upon conviction is 15 years in federal
prison and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $200 to the
Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution
may also be ordered.
The Indictment alleges that on or about March 8, 2019, Hebb
assaulted a minor child, who was under the age of seven, with a dangerous
weapon, a hairbrush, and did abuse, expose, torture, torment, and cruelly
punish the minor child.
The charges are merely accusations and Hebb is presumed
innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the Cheyenne River
Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the Federal Bureau of
Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney
Cameron J. Cook is prosecuting the case.
Hebb was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
