NEW ORLEANS—FBI New Orleans Field Office Special Agent in
Charge Bryan Vorndran announces the arrest and charging via federal complaint
of Levi Richard Herman for his alleged involvement in the robbery of Capital
One Bank, 313 Carondelet Street, New Orleans, Louisiana.
On Thursday, December 5, 2019, at approximately 3:15 p.m.,
Levi Richard Herman, entered the Capital One Bank, approached the teller
counter and presented a note demanding money. After obtaining an undisclosed
amount of U.S. currency, Herman fled the bank on foot.
Herman, age 25 and resident of Jefferson Parish, was taken
into custody without incident on Friday, December 6, 2019, at approximately
6:00 p.m. in Jefferson Parish through a cooperative effort between the FBI’s
New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Following media publicity of the unidentified Capital One
robber and bank photos, multiple tips from the public were received and played
an integral part in the arrest.
Herman was transported to the St. Bernard Parish jail and
charged with one count of 18 U.S.C. 2113(a) – Bank Robbery.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of
Louisiana is prosecuting this matter.
The public is reminded that criminal complaints, such as
this, contain only charges and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are
presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable
doubt in a court of law.
