Portland, Maine: A
Lewiston man was sentenced yesterday in federal court in Portland for
distributing cocaine base, commonly known as “crack,” U.S. Attorney Halsey B.
Frank announced.
U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Torresen sentenced Everton
Jones, 23, to 16 months in prison and three years of supervised release. Jones
pleaded guilty on August 22, 2019.
According to court records, on June 1, 2018, Jones sold
approximately one-half ounce of crack to another individual at a residence in
Lewiston.
The FBI’s Southern Maine Gang Task Force; the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the U.S. Marshals Service; the U.S.
Drug Enforcement Administration; the Maine State Police; and the Lewiston
Police Department investigated the case.
