March 22, 2010 - MADISON, WI—Stephen P. Sinnott, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Arlandis Issac, 38, Marty Taylor, 39, Larry Price, 33, and Wayner Black, 33, all recently of Madison, were sentenced on Friday, March 19, by Judge Barbara B. Crabb, for robbing the Amcore Bank on Verona Road. Issac was sentenced to 14 years; Taylor was sentenced to just over nine years; Price was sentenced to 12 ½ years; and Black was sentenced to almost 22 years. Each of these prison terms will be served without parole and will be followed by five years of supervised release.
On July 24, 2009, Issac, Taylor, Price, and Black entered the bank, each armed with a firearm. Issac and Taylor jumped the counter and took money from the tellers who were present. Price and Black patrolled the rest of the bank. Once the suspects were identified, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Madison and officers found numerous firearms and the clothing and masks worn in the robbery.
The differing terms of imprisonment were based on the different criminal histories of each of the defendants and their different roles in the offense. Isaac, Price, and Black were all sentenced as career offenders, each having been convicted of two drug crimes or crimes of violence before this incident. Isaac was sentenced as a leader or organizer of the robbery and Black's sentence was increased because he obstructed justice by attempting to have another person hide evidence of the robbery. Taylor was not a career offender but was released from prison two years ago for a different armed robbery and was on parole for that offense at the time of this robbery.
The charges against Issac, Taylor, Price, and Black were the result of an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Madison Police Department. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Altman.
