Two Akron Residents Indicted on Heroin Charges

Kerry Boyer, Jr., age 32, and Bianca Parms, age 33, both of Akron, Ohio, were both charged in a two-count indictment, Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, announced today.

Both are charged with possession with intent to distribute approximately 43 grams of heroin, and with maintaining premises on
Beaver Street, Akron, Ohio
, for the purpose of manufacturing, distributing, and using heroin.

The indictment alleges that Boyer and Parms were distributing heroin from a
Beaver Street
address in Akron. It further alleges that both defendants were maintaining the premises for the purpose of manufacturing, distributing, and using heroin.

If convicted, the defendants’ sentences will be determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendants’ prior criminal records, if any, the defendants’ roles in the offenses, and the characteristics of the violations. In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases it will be less than the maximum.

The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Akron Police Department, the Summit County Drug Unit, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The matter was presented to the grand jury by Assistant United States Attorney Robert E. Bulford, Attorney in Charge, Akron Branch Office, and also assigned to the U.S. Attorney’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
