Carrollton, TX - Donaldo Velasquez, a fugitive wanted for violently stabbing a man to death after posing as a Lyft driver, was arrested yesterday by members of the U.S. Marshals-led Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force.
On July 31, Arnold Pinilla called the ride-sharing service after leaving a Carrollton restaurant to get home safely with his girlfriend. When a similar vehicle arrived, Pinilla and his girlfriend climbed into the car. After quickly realizing something was wrong, the couple demanded to get out of the vehicle. The driver then allegedly demanded payment before arguing with Pinilla and then fatally stabbing him.
After an extensive investigation, information was developed that Velasquez was residing in The Colony, Texas. During surveillance, Velasquez was observed pulling into a residence in his vehicle.
Velasquez was arrested without incident by members of the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force and booked into the Carrollton City Jail for further processing.
The Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force is composed of investigators with the U.S. Marshals Service, Plano Police Department, Carrollton Police Department, Denton County Sheriff’s Office, Denton Police Department, Flower Mound Police Department and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office.
