March 2, 2010 - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, March 1, 2010, that John Kujath, a resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Erie to 210 months in jail on his conviction of violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children.
United States District Judge Sean J. McLaughlin imposed the sentence on Kujath, age 46.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold, Kujath received and distributed hundreds of computer images and movies depicting prepubesecent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Several of these items depict children younger than 10 subjected to bestiality, bondage, and other acts of violence.
Prior to imposing sentence, Judge McLaughlin stated that the defendant represents a significant threat to children and that protection of society is a paramount sentencing consideration.
Mr. Cessar commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Kujath.
