Pine Ridge Woman Sentenced for Distributing Cocaine
March 5, 2010 - United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pine Ridge woman charged with distribution of a controlled substance was sentenced on March 1, 2010, by Chief U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Doreen Brown, age 34, was sentenced to 41months of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and a $100 victim assessment. Brown was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 24, 2008. In 2004, Brown distributed cocaine on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She pled guilty to the charge on November 19, 2009. This case was investigated by OST, BIA, ATF, and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark A. Vargo prosecuted the case. Brown was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
