March 1, 2010 - WICHITA, KN—Patrick J. Renz, 45, Rush Center, Kan., has pleaded to bank fraud, U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said today.
In his plea, Renz admitted that from Aug. 31, 2006, through June 29, 2007, he obtained loans from Community Bank of the Midwest in Otis, Kan. Renz fraudulently claimed to own cattle that the bank accepted as collateral on the loan. He defaulted on the loans and owes the bank $184,385.
Sentencing is set for May 17, 2010. He faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison, a fine up to $1 million and restitution. The FBI investigated. U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch is prosecuting.
