Activity in the United States Attorney’s Office

Taylor Ashtyn Robinson, 21, of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Rod Marti, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were sentenced by Federal District Court Judge William F. Downes on July 19, 2011, for their roles in connection to a burglary of Marv’s Other Place Pawn Shop in Cheyenne, Wyoming on January 21, 2011. Robinson was sentenced to six months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a special assessment of $100.00 on one count of interstate transportation of stolen firearms. Marti was sentenced to 144 months of imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $200.00 special assessment on one count of theft of firearms from a federal firearms dealer and one count of felon in possession of a firearm. Both were ordered to pay restitution, jointly and severally, in the amount of $5,197.00. This case was investigated by the Cheyenne Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Maria Garnica–Rocha, 25 of Mexico, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on July 21, 2011 for illegal re–entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Garnica–Rocha received time served plus ten days, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Vincente Espinoza–Rosales, a/k/a Vicente Espinoza, 29, of Mexico, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on July 20, 2011 for use of a false social security number. Espinoza–Rosales received time served plus ten days, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Carmelo Bayona–Tablas, a/k/a Carmelo B. Tablas, 28, of Mexico, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on July 20, 2011 for use of a false social security number. Bayona-Tablas received time served plus ten days, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Victorino Cruz–Rivero, 36 of Mexico, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on July 20, 2011 for illegal re–entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Cruz–Rivero received time served plus ten days, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Israel, Lopez–Cruz, 46 of Mexico, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on July 20, 2011 for illegal re–entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Lopez–Cruz received time served plus ten days, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Yolanda Valladares, 40, of Mexico, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on July 20, 2011 for misuse of a false social security number. Valladares received time served plus ten days, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Robin Lee, 36, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on July 21, 2011 for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 72.8 grams of actual methamphetamine and 389 grams of a mixture of methamphetamine. Lee received 97 months of imprisonment, to be followed by four years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $400.00 fine and a $100.00 special assessment. This case was investigated by the US Drug Enforcement Administration.

Daniel Stewart, 42, of Rock Springs, Wyoming, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on July 19, 2011, for shipment of child pornography. Stewart received 67 months of imprisonment, to be followed by twenty years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $700.00 fine, restitution in the amount of $300.00 and a special assessment of $100.00. This case was investigated by the Green River Police Department.

Armando Juan Cano, 27, of Moroni, Utah, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge William F. Downes on July 18, 2011, for attempted carjacking and using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. Cano received 57 months on count one and 120 months on the count two, to run consecutively. Cano was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $11,802.38 and a $200.00 special assessment and will be placed on five years of supervised release after serving his sentence. Cano’s conviction results from his nude rampage in June 2010 approximately 33 miles west of Rawlins, Wyoming, on Interstate 80. Cano rammed several vehicles, fired shots from a stolen handgun in an attempt to take control of a vehicle and ran naked into traffic. This case was investigated by the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, the Wyoming Highway Patrol and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Jacob Richard Sklenar, 31, of Burns, Wyoming, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on July 18, 2011, for felon in possession of a firearm and conspiracy to distribute 200 grams of methamphetamine. Sklenar received 97 months of imprisonment, to be followed by four years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $200.00 special assessment. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the US Drug Enforcement Administration.

Terrence Rutland, 31, of Rock Springs, Wyoming, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge William F. Downes on July 15, 2011, for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine; interference with commerce by threats or violence; carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime; and use of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. Rutland received 504 months of imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $400.00 assessment. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
