Border Patrol Seizes Personal Defense Weapons Carried by Female Illegal Alien

Tucson, Ariz. – On October 4, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Tucson Sector, a component of the Joint Field Command-Arizona, apprehended a female illegal immigrant in possession of a taser, brass knuckles, and pepper spray. The 34-year-old woman from Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico, was apprehended along with 15 additional illegal immigrants in the Casa Grande area of responsibility. The group of immigrants and the weapons were transported for processing.

The woman carrying the weapons told agents she heard the border was a dangerous environment where smugglers were capable of raping and killing women. She said she purchased all three weapons in Altar, Sonora, Mexico, for a total of 600 Mexican pesos. The woman informed agents that she obtained the items with her personal protection in mind and had no intention of using the items on law enforcement.
