Cedar Rapids, IA - U.S. Marshals arrested a Cedar Rapids man
today, wanted in Wisconsin on multiple charges of armed robbery, and battery.
Christopher Green, 33, was charged in January by the Stevens
Point Police Department for an Armed Robbery that had taken place. Following
the incident, the Cedar Rapids Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service
Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force (NIFTF) was requested to assist in the hunt
for Green.
NIFTF members narrowed the search for Green to Cedar Rapids,
Iowa and late this afternoon Green was observed walking into a local business
on 6th ST SW in Cedar Rapids. Green was quickly taken into custody without
incident and transported to the Linn County Jail, where he will await
extradition.
The U.S. Marshals Service is the federal government’s
primary agency for fugitive investigations. Nationwide, 60 local task forces
are dedicated to violent crime reduction by locating and apprehending wanted
criminals. These task forces also serve as the central point for agencies to
share information on fugitive matters. The Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force is
comprised of officers from the US Marshals Service, the Linn County Sheriff’s
office, Cedar Rapids Police Department, and the Iowa Department of Criminal
Investigation.
