Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service, Vermont Violent
Offender Task Force arrested a fugitive wanted by the Richmond Police
Department on a warrant for multiple felonies, including Aggravated Domestic
Assault 1st degree, Unlawful Restraint and Kidnapping.
David Gates, 29, of Barre, Vermont was arrested during the
day on August 25th, 2016 in Barton, Vermont when confronted by Deputy U.S.
Marshals, members of the Vermont Violent Offender Task Force, and Deputies from
the Orleans County Sherriff’s Department.
Richmond Police Department requested the assistance of the
U.S. Marshals Service in locating and apprehending Gates on August 24th, 2016.
Gates last known residence was in Barre, VT and his current whereabouts were
unknown.
The fugitive investigation led the U.S. Marshals Service to
an address in Barton VT, where Gates was located and apprehended.
Gates has an extensive and significant criminal history in
the State of Vermont. His history includes multiple convictions for felony
Aggravated Assaults, Reckless Endangerment, Escape, False Information to Law
Enforcement, Parole and Probation Violations.
Gates bail is set at $15,000 at the time of his arrest.
Gates will be arraigned at the Orleans County District Court today.
This arrest was the result of a culmination of investigative
efforts by the U.S. Marshals VVOTF, Richmond Police Department, Orleans County
Sherriff’s Department and Newport Police Department.
