Pittsburgh, PA - Members of the United States Marshals
Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force (WPAFTF) and officers from the North
Versailles Police Department captured Demetres Beck at approximately 12:15 pm
in the 400 block of Commerce Street in Wilmerding, PA. Beck, age 21, had been
wanted on outstanding charges filed by the Allegheny County Police Department
(ACPD) on December 7, 2015 for Criminal Homicide, Conspiracy-Criminal Homicide
and Robbery, following an investigation into the shooting death of Kierre
Simmons on December 29, 2014. Simmons was shot multiple times in North
Braddock. Co-Defendant Justin Gomez was arrested by ACPD on the same date of the
shooting and charged with Criminal Homicide, Receiving Stolen Property and
Aggravated Assault (2 cts)
On an unrelated incident, Beck was also charged by the
Pittsburgh Bureau of Police on January 1, 2016 with Aggravated Assault,
Conspiracy-Aggravated Assault, Carrying a Firearm without a License and
Recklessly Endangering another Person.
Beck is originally from Pittsburgh and was last known to
reside in Wilkinsburg, PA. The WPAFTF was actively investigating Beck’s
whereabouts and developed information he was staying at an apartment in the 400
block of Commerce Street in Wilmerding. Investigators breached the front door
of the apartment after a male occupant partially opened then closed the door
and observed Beck standing in the apartment hallway. Beck was complied with
orders to come out of the apartment where he was arrested without further
incident. Task Force members recovered a firearm and ammunition from the
apartment and the North Versailles Police are conducting a follow up
investigation. Beck was transported and turned over to the custody of the
Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
The Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force is made up of
the following member agencies: U.S. Marshals, Pennsylvania State Police,
Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office,
Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office and U.S.
Attorney’s Office.
