Lumberton, NC - The U.S. Marshals Service-led task force in
the Eastern District of North Carolina today arrested in Lumberton a man wanted
in Arizona for violating the terms of his period of supervised release
following a federal conviction for illegal re-entry of a removed alien.
U.S. Marshals investigators in Arizona developed information
that indicated Omar Vasquez-Roman was possibly in North Carolina and requested
the assistance of the Eastern District of North Carolina Violent Fugitive Task
Force. The local investigation led task force members and the Robeson County

where Vasquez-Roman was located and arrested this morning.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office then conducted a search
warrant at the house and recovered 10 kilograms of cocaine, 15 bundles of
marijuana, an as-yet undetermined amount of U.S. currency, and two firearms.
Member agencies of the Eastern District of North Carolina
Violent Fugitive Task Force involved in Vasquez-Roman’s arrest were the U.S.
