ATF Offers $2500 Reward for Gun Burglary

Seventeen Handguns and One Shotgun Taken in Burglary of State Law Enforcement Training Complex

WELDON, N.C. — Zebedee T. Graham, Special Agent in Charge of the Charlotte Field Division, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), has announced a reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the burglary of the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) complex, Halifax Community College, Weldon, North Carolina. The BLET program provides law enforcement officer certification in North Carolina for employment at the state, county, or municipal level, and is controlled by the North Carolina Department of Justice, Criminal Justice Standards Division. Halifax Community College is one of the state’s accredited BLET training academy sites.

Between July 23-26, 2010, unknown persons broke into the BLET complex and stole eighteen firearms. The burglary of the BLET complex is being investigated by ATF and the Weldon Police Department.
