WASHINGTON—Timothy Brown, 28, of Washington, D.C., pled guilty today to a federal charge stemming from a bank robbery that took place in August 2010 in Southeast Washington, announced U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr., James W. McJunkin, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI's Washington Field Office, and Cathy L. Lanier, Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Brown pled guilty to one count of bank robbery at a hearing before the Honorable Judge Richard W. Roberts in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia . He is to be sentenced on April 7, 2011 . He faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years.
According to the government's evidence, at about 10:20 a.m. on August 26, 2010, Brown robbed a Chevy Chase Bank located in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue SE. Brown approached a teller window and handed the teller a note demanding money. The note also indicated that Brown was armed with a gun. Brown stole $10,449 from the bank.
