City of Davenport and ATF Offer $5,000 Reward for Information Regarding Theft of Davenport FFL


Quad City Crimestoppers, the Davenport Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for the recent theft of firearms from a Davenport federal firearms license holder and the recovery of the firearms.

On Monday, January 17, 2011 at , the Davenport Police Department responded to 919 Madison reference a shooting. Officers found five males and one female inside the residence. The victim was located in the kitchen with a severe gunshot wound.

Davenport Police Detective Rick Voy was able to identify a suspect; Bobby Thompson, and arrested him for Burglary 1st and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony. A Search Warrant was served at his residence where additional evidence was located including a handgun. The handgun had not been reported stolen and an ATF gun trace was conducted. This trace led Detective Voy to the owner’s address in Davenport, where he found that the home had been burglarized. The resident was found to be away in Arizona. Contact was made with the owner who returned home. It was discovered 46 weapons were missing from the residence. Several weapons have already been recovered by the Davenport Police Department through other investigations.

The investigation continues jointly between the Davenport Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. ATF Agents said, “Firearm thefts result in illegal firearms trafficking and placing firearms in the hands of those who cannot buy them through lawful means. For this reason, ATF has joined with the Davenport Police Department and Crimestoppers to offer $5,000 in reward money for anyone providing information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for this crime.”

Anyone who has any knowledge of the location of any of the stolen firearms, the identity of those person(s) responsible for the thefts or any information concerning the thefts is asked to call the Davenport Police Department at 326-7979 or CRIMESTOPPERS at (309) 762-9500.
