They make a difference everyday and they do it for free. Volunteers play a vital role in building a community. On Thursday February 3rd, the County’s Aging and Independence Services will honor Santee Senior Volunteer Patrol member Betty Koeppen for her contribution to society. She will receive the “Volunteer of the Month” award at the Santee City Hall Building 7 at 9:00 a.m.
The address is 10601 Magnolia Avenue, Santee.
Santee Station Captain Ed Musgrove will be on hand for the special ceremony. Betty Koeppen is 81 years young. She’s been with the Sheriff’s Santee station since 2002. She has logged more than 4,700 hours of volunteer time patrolling the city of Santee and unincorporated areas of El Cajon and Lakeside. Before retiring, Betty was an escrow officer for 34 years.
Betty is being recognized for her efforts in organizing and supervising the Santee Station’s “You Are Not Alone” (YANA) program for disabled or home-bound seniors living by themselves.
To arrange an interview with Betty Koeppen and follow her at the Santee Station please call Bill Denton at (619) 647-3492.
