Cannon Ball Man Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of a Minor

BISMARCK—United States Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on September 19, 2011, Gerald Roubideaux, 20, Cannon Ball, North Dakota, was sentenced in United States District Court by Judge Daniel L. Hovland on a charge of sexual abuse of a minor.

Judge Hovland sentenced Roubideaux to one year and six months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release. Roubideaux was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund. Roubideaux must register as a sex offender.

Roubideaux pleaded guilty to the charge on June 22, 2011, and admitted to engaging in a sexual act with a juvenile in July 2009 in Cannon Ball, North Dakota.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Indian Affairs - Standing Rock Agency.

Assistant United States Attorney Rick Volk prosecuted the case.
