El Paso, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection is advising the flying public that the agency is temporarily suspending international flight processing at the Dona Ana County airport. General aviation traffic that typically would use the facility is being instructed to clear CBP at the El Paso International Airport or another international airport designated for arrival of aircraft from Mexico.
“The existing facilities at the Dona Ana County Airport do not currently meet modern security standards,” said CBP Santa Teresa Acting Port Director Jesus Chavez. “We are working closely with Dona Ana County in order to have the improvements made as quickly as possible and hope to provide service there again in the near future.”
CBP officers processed 165 aircraft arrivals at the Dona Ana County Airport in fiscal year 2010 and 92 during the first six months of fiscal year 2011.
